Contractors

Why leave your pay to chance? Purple Sage takes a more scientific approach to help workers optimise their take-home pay & overall retention.
Up to 40 days paid leave.

This is just one of a number of ways that Purple Sage seeks to provide workers with a more balanced overall package. There are no golden bullets in terms “uplifted rate PAYE”, but still plenty of scope to plan ahead.

Avoid schemes & loopholes.

Most contractors know of somebody who has either used a tax scheme, or is suspected of using a scheme, and the resulting unwanted interest shown by HMRC. The legitimate ways of improving your retention are more technical, but at least you keep the money.

Use breaks that HM Govt endorses.

Given the unusual nature of “uplifted PAYE”, including Employer Costs, using breaks such as pension allowance often have positive unintended effects, to complement more known outcomes for things like long-term planning.

Take the doubt out of tax compliance.

Purple Sage XXX accredited by the UK’s most rigorous umbrella accreditation body. Most larger umbrella companies use a “lighter touch” accreditation service, so some of their processes are likely to fail HMRC Enforcement. This leaves workers, agencies & hirers unexpectedly exposed.

Optimise retention with our PAYE algorithm.

Most contractor umbrella PAYE is a case of “tail wagging the dog”, so the retention output is not the main objective (this may not surprise). We welcome worker input to the remuneration process.

An umbrella company can provide a contract worker with many benefits, not least of all, a simpler way of paying your taxes. You essentially become an employee of the umbrella and get paid on a PAYE basis. All of you tax and national insurance calculations are collected at source, just like a conventional employer. In fact, umbrella employment is much the same as conventional “permanent” employment.

You are also entitled to all of the rights and benefits of a permanent employee, whilst having the ability to fastrack your career by taking on more senior roles faster than might otherwise be the case. Another option is that you become the director of your own limited company, a route that might be great for some, but the increasing impact of tax reforms (chiefly IR35) mean the benefits of using your own limited company are restricted to fewer and fewer contract workers.

For an insight into which route might best suit your career plan, get in touch.
