Purple Sage is arguably safer than most other accredited umbrella companies
Because we really understand uplifted PAYE, we are able to help workers use legitimate tax breaks such as pension allowance to boost their retention in a safe and compliant way. This means that we don’t run the gauntlet of expenses and tax relief, which in most cases just creates a hidden tax liability readily transferable to agency directors.
HMRC Enforcement are now looking more closely at the abuse of expenses in the contingent worker supply chain, particularly as a result of increased pressure on umbrella companies to approve and pay expenses in the light current IR35 reforms.
As a recruiter or owner of a recruitment business, using Purple Sage provides three distinct advantages:
- Workers are content as they can seek out the best compliant pay rate using our PAYE algorithm
- We do not give rise to transferable debt risk (to the agency) from incorrectly run expenses arrangements
- Our Conduct Regulations process protects your worker portfolio
If you currently run an in-house book of PAYE workers, but you are increasingly mindful of the exposure to employer tax risks, we can help here too.
Implications of various April 2020 reforms
Whether it is IR35, Swedish Derogation, Key Information or Labour Market Enforcement, there is so much up for change that only one thing is certain; things will take longer than first envisaged and there will be many unintended consequences of many well-meaning interventions.
We don’t expect 2020 to play out quite as envisaged, but we welcome your discussion, comments and challenges.
